 Marine Coastal Warning

Strong wind warning for all open waters of Vanuatu issued by the Vanuatu Meteorological Service, Port Vila at 05:00 am Thursday, 11 March 2010.

General Situation
A tropical low (1004hPa; near 13.8S, 167.3E) lies over Torba province with the associated cloud, showers/rain and thunder. Meanwhile a high pressure over the Australian Bight extends a broad ridge over New Caledonia and Vanuatu.

Forecast
Southeasterly winds of 22 to 27 knots expected over all open waters of Vanuatu with rough to very rough seas to 3.0 metres. Moderate to heavy southeast swells and poor visibility expected in showers of rain and thunder.
